The Verkade Factory was once started as a waffle factory: Parisian waffles, frou-frou and mocha cakes were baked. Ericus Gerhardus Verkade took over the factory in 1929 and the Verkade Factory was started. Many girls from 's-Hertogenbosch started working at Verkade after finishing domestic science school during the previous century: ‘the Verkade girls’. The Verkade Factory became a household name in ’s-Hertogenbosch. The Verkade Factory has been a leading podium for theatre, dance and film art since 2004. You will also find fine food and drinks, festivals, debates, children’s activities and parties there. It has been estimated that more than 200,000 people visit the Verkade Factory each year.

The new theatre season is being launched in festive fashion at the Verkade Factory under the ‘Heden:Theater!’ (Theatre:Now!) banner. Kluif created flyers, posters, placemats, banners and T-shirts in a clearly recognizable graphic style. The rocket launch symbolizes the start of the new season.
